Financial investors increase their net long position on euronext wheat


Non-commercial market participants added to their net long position in Euronext milling wheat futures and options in the week to April 22, according to data released by Euronext on Wednesday.

* Non-commercial participants, which include investment funds and financial institutions, increased their net long position to 195,357 contracts from 194,355 the previous week, the data showed.

* Trade participants widened their net short position to 209,818 contracts from 196,187 a week earlier.

* Trader short positions accounted for 70.9% of total short position, while trade long positions accounted for 32.4% of total long positions.

* Non-trade short positions represented 29.1% of total short positions, while net non-trade long positions represented 67.5% of total long positions.

* The report covers almost all open short positions and 99.9% of open long positions in wheat derivatives.

* In Euronext’s rapeseed futures and options, non-trading market participants increased their net short position to 4,142 contracts from 3,767 a week earlier.

* Trade participants increased their net long position in rapeseed to 4,566 contracts from 2,880 the previous week.
