Financial investors extend their net long position in euronext wheat

Non-trading market participants increased their net long position for the sixth consecutive week in Euronext mill wheat futures and options in the week to August 20, according to data released by Euronext.

Non-commercial participants, which include investment funds and financial institutions, extended their net long position to 178,038 contracts from 159,950 a week earlier, the data showed.

Trade participants also extended their net short position to 190,111 contracts from 186,470 a week earlier.

Ad short positions accounted for 71.6% of total short positions, while commercial long positions represented 39% of total long positions.

Non-trade short positions accounted for 28.4% of total short positions, while net non-trade long positions represented 61% of total long positions.

The report covered all open short positions and open long positions in wheat derivatives.

In Euronext rapeseed futures and options, non-trading market participants also increased their net long position to 7,770 contracts from 6,029 a week earlier.

Trade participants increased their net short position in rapeseed to 11,650 contracts from 9,840 a week earlier.
