FedEx Express, the world’s largest express carrier, a subsidiary of FedEx Corp, has announced the start of electric vehicle (EV) trials in India as part of its global goal to achieve carbon neutrality by 2040. The electric vehicle trial, which is expected to be completed within a month in Bangalore, will test vehicle technology within FedEx Express operations, evaluating the operational efficiency of vehicles on a standard route fully loaded with parcels. . Following the positive results of the trial, FedEx Express will expand the trial to Delhi.

The company further states that vehicle electrification is one of the key areas on its journey towards achieving its goal of carbon neutral operations. By 2040, the entire global FedEx Package Pickup and Delivery (PUD) fleet is expected to be zero-emission electric vehicles. This goal of vehicle electrification is being addressed through incremental programs to replace existing vehicles. The goal is for 50% of FedEx Express’s global PUD vehicle purchases to be electric vehicles by 2025, rising to 100% by 2030.
